At high-end fashion retailer Lululemon, RFID has been in the making for two years. The retailer has adopted RFID to enhance inventory accuracy and the guest experience. By using RFID, Lululemon can tell its guests exactly where a product is and help them buy it.
Lululemon recently unveiled an app that allows shoppers to check inventory levels on their mobile device. The app, available in android as well as iOS, uses the phone’s camera to scan the barcode (not an RFID tag) on the hang tag and pulls up the product detail page (PDP) from Lululemon’s ecommerce site. It then uses the retailer’s back end integrations to RFID to do a real time inventory check across all stores, sorted by the ones closest to the retail location, based on the phone’s location.
This video details how Lululemon is utilizing RFID technology.
