UK-based apparel retailer River Island choose an interesting way to test RFID before deciding to roll it out at all of its 280 stores. During a pilot, inventory accuracy improved to 97 percent by using RFID. Before continuing with the pilot, Jon Wright, head of global loss prevention and safety at River Island, says that the retailer discontinued RFID to further demonstrate the inventory accuracy benefits. Accuracy plummeted back into the mid-60s without RFID.
Upon implementing and piloting !D Cloud from Nedap, accuracy improved to 97% for all stores within two weeks and has remained consistent week after week. “Even more important, that has achieved us a significant sales increase across all our pilot stores,” says Wright.
