INTERSPORT Jan Bols, a sporting goods retailer located in the Netherlands, has deployed an RFID solution to provide quick and accurate inventory counts for all 10,000 items carried at the retail location. The solution will also opimize logistics and reduce out-of-stocks.
The plug-and-play solution can be deployed in one day and will provide INTERSPORT with a return on investment in less than 12 months. An additional 10 stores plan to roll out the solution this year. For now, RFID tags will be attached to goods in the store’s back room.
RFID allows the retailer to complete inventory in 20 minutes by scanning shelves and racks from a distance. INTERSPORT JB will now conduct a complete inventory count on a weekly basis. All items in the store remain untouched and there is no need to waste time on pre-count or post-count preparations.
Reports are automatically generated and uploaded to the chain’s existing inventory management system, enabling the store manager to precisely order items from the INTERSPORT warehouse and various suppliers.

In addition, INTERSPORT JB deployed RFKeeper’s Smart POS Detachers to shorten checkout lines at the point of sales. Detachers quickly remove a security tag, and customer checkout time is reduced by up to 50 percent by eliminating barcode scanning. The result is shorter lines, accurate price charging and improved shopping experience.
