Specialty shoe retailer De Wolky Shop is rolling out RFID to all nine of its stores in the Netherlands and Germany after a successful pilot at two of its retail locations. During a 12-week trial, De Wolky Shop’s inventory accuracy rose from 84 percent to 98 percent.
“In a very short period of time, we have gained an insight into the causes of the differences between the administrative and the actual stock present in two shops,” says Tom van Geemen, CEO of De Wolky Shop. “We have reduced these differences to a minimum and have continued to reduce them by quick, frequent stocktaking. The result is accurate stock with less “no sales” and fewer disappointed customers, which in this day and age is key to holding our own against the competition.”
De Wolky Shop has rolled out Store !D, the RFID solution from Nedap Retail that allows retailers to take inventory more regularly by using an advanced RFID hand-held scanner that can read 10,000 products an hour. Therefore, the retailer gains a clearer understanding of its actual stock and the cause of any stock differences, through losses or errors, can be dealt with more quickly.
Rob Schuurman, Managing Director at Nedap Retail, says De Wolky Shop is a prime example of a successful implementation of RFID in a medium-sized retailer. “We are delighted that De Wolky Shop has decided to roll out RFID further to guarantee customer satisfaction now and in the future,” says Schuurman. “Many individual retailers find it difficult to predetermine what benefits RFID can deliver. That is why we offer an approach that is more akin to a pilot scheme with the RFID Experience, in which retailers themselves can discover the ease of use and the advantages of the system. This means that afterwards, retailers can implement the system into the entire chain.”
