New Video: Lessons learned from S.Oliver retail RFID pilot

A new video from German fashion retailer S.Oliver reveals how the company has benefitted from deploying an RFID pilot program at three of its stores and at its distribution center. The video displays how the company tags items, how they travel through its supply chain, and the role RFID plays in eliminating out-of-stocks and increasing store revenue.

Store employees are able to quickly check-in new items, eliminating the time consuming process of manually inspecting each individual item against packaging slips. As products arrive at the store and move through an RFID-enable portal, items are automatically entered into the store’s inventory, allowing goods to be placed on the retail floor much faster. All NOS items (never out of stock) were equipped with RFID tags to reduce out-of-stocks.

After a customer makes a purchase, the RFID reader located near the store exit records the transaction and automatically deletes the item from the store inventory. In addition, the reader also records any items that leave the store without being paid for, helping to better track and decrease shrinkage.
