Omni-ID has unveiled a new family of UltraThin low profile, flexible on-metal RFID tags and inlays. The product announcement follows wide market adoption of Omni-ID’s first two products in the category — the Flex(R)LP and Flex(R)AI.
Omni-ID has deployed tens of thousands of the tags at a Fortune 100 electronics manufacturer since the end of last year.
First launched in October 2011, Omni-ID claims that the UltraThin products provide exceptional on and off metal performance, ultra-slim profile and ability to support flexible application on curved surfaces.
“Since the late last year, the first two products, the Flex(R)LP and Flex(R)AI, have been sold in volume to leading firms in IT, Oil & Gas, and Tool Tracking. These tags mark the beginning of a full line of very low profile, flexible tags and inlays,” said George E. Daddis, Jr., PhD, CEO of Omni-ID.
In fact, Omni-ID says that IT provider Cisco has purchased large volumes of tags in the last nine months for an asset tracking program driven by Sarbanes Oxley requirements. The tags can help customers like Cisco to track their entire asset inventory in several hours, as opposed to taking a full week or more with manual methods, which only achieve in the range of 50 percent accuracy.
Omni-ID will make several additions to the UltraThin product line over the next several weeks, including high performance on-metal inlays for asset tracking that can be used with virtually any RFID printer, a solution that label applicators have long sought for tagging of racks, stretchers and cylinders.
“Just as we transformed the durable tag market in 2005 with our patented on-metal UHF tag technology, these new introductions will change the RFID landscape again,” says Daddis. “2012 will be an exciting year for Omni-ID as we continue to build on our strong growth in revenue and expansion during 2011. In fact, this announcement is just the first of several significant new product and technology announcements from Omni-ID to come over the next couple of months.”
